Finding the house

Marrow Springs sits on the river Slatebeck at the foot of the Marrow hill, fifteen minutes' walk from Kesselford Bridge station. Follow the steam; on cold mornings the yard marks itself.

Getting here

  • Train: Kesselford Bridge, then the Slatebeck footpath south. The sign at the footbridge says "warm baths" and has since 1932.
  • On foot: the towpath gate opens onto the drying yard. Ring the brass bell if the yard door is latched.
  • By car: six spaces behind the boiler house, free for bathers. On scrubbing Thursdays the lane doubles as the drying rack, so arrive early.
  • By water: the Slatebeck punt mooring accepts bathers arriving by punt, and the house pretends this is ordinary.

What to bring

  • A towel; or take a house towel from the deck and leave it folded.
  • A lock for the locker, or leave valuables at the deck desk with the steward.
  • Robe and sandals are provided. So is the tea.
  • Nothing else. The pool hall has been famously minimal since 1926.

Accessibility

The deck, Resting Hall and Cascade Bath are step-free. The Meridian has a hoist at the west steps and the Mosaic Room a cool bench at the door. Tell the house what you need in the booking notes and the steward will have it ready; nobody has ever been turned away for asking twice.

Book the dawn session
